What does Cancer Support Community South Bay do?
Cancer Support Community South Bay offers free programs and classes that help cancer patients and their loved ones navigate the complex emotions and stresses that come with the diagnosis.  These programs have been proven to raise the spirits and quality of life of cancer patients, as well as help keep traditional medical treatments on track. Our psychosocial programs are just one part of the continuum of care we offer for those fighting cancer.

From physical wellness and strength-building classes like yoga and tai chi, to empathetic support groups with others who share your journey, CSC South Bay provides a caring community of support to lean on during these challenging days.

What does it cost?

Nothing! Everything we offer is completely free of charge. You will never be asked to pay for any support groups, classes or workshops. CSC South Bay is a nonprofit organization funded by generous individuals, corporate sponsors and foundations.

What are the benefits of psychosocial support?

It has been established that patients living with or surviving cancer often feel the need for support beyond their medical treatment to deal with stress, fear, information-overload, isolation, changes in family dynamics, and confidence in managing their health. Our services are designed specifically to address these needs and more. All programs are developed from evidence-based psychosocial oncology,  and all mind-body research and groups are facilitated by licensed therapists. Based on a recent CSC South Bay survey:

    • 99% of participants reported an improved quality of life
    • 98% of participants felt better able to cope with distress
    • 98% of participants felt more empowered to manage their illness

How do I sign up?

The first step is to attend a Welcome Orientation Meeting where we share more about our programs and services. Welcome meetings take place on Monday and Friday mornings at 11:00 am and are currently done over Zoom. You can register online here or contact Carla Bick, our Cancer Support Navigator, at 310-376-3550 or Carla@CSCSouthBay.org
